Robin Mack, a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Kent, UK, has a new single on the horizon. In a few days, the world will get to experience the ‘heartfelt’ melodies of ‘Truthfully’, Mack’s third release.
We asked Mack a few questions in preparation for the release, and they gifted us with their answers.
In three words, how would you describe your new single, ‘Truthfully’?
Heartfelt, dreamy and cinematic.
What inspired the song, and how is it ‘truthful’ to its name?
I wrote the song roughly 2 years ago about someone I was developing feelings for at the time. I felt like I couldn’t confess, so the lyrics were an outlet for the words I wanted to ‘Truthfully’ say to them. Ironically, a few months after I wrote the song, it turned out my feelings were reciprocated; I’m releasing it now as a tribute to the beginning of mine and my partner’s relationship. I think it’s something hopeless romantics (past me) and happy couples (present me) can all relate to.
What kind of sound can we expect from this single? Is it a similar style to your previous releases?
It’s definitely different from my previous releases, which are more stripped-back in comparison. ‘Truthfully’ includes violins, harp and synth to give it more of a dream-like, spacey, filmic feel. The melody also uses a way wider range than I’ve written or sung before.
Who do you think might connect with ‘Truthfully’?
If you like coming up with imaginary scenarios whilst listening to music then I think my song is for you! It’s perfect for daydreaming and relaxing.
What is a standout lyric from ‘Truthfully’ for you personally?
‘I think the stars made you just for me.’ When I first wrote this lyric, I had no idea just how accurate it would turn out to be. The person this song is about is my other half, and the closest thing to a soulmate there is.

Mack’s story for the song rings true in its sound; the soft ricochet of the guitar creates a lullaby of romance and hope. Like a nighttime breeze, the slow, tiptoe rhythm of the chords are lifted by the twinkling strings and grounded by Mack’s utterly charming vocals. ‘Truthfully’ by Robin Mack is out on all streaming platforms from April 18th, and is definitely worth a listen.
