Earlier this week, groundbreaking artist Lizzie Mayland dropped their heart wrenching single ‘Lighthouse’. The long awaited single has been the highly anticipated solo career launch from The Last Dinner Party’s own guitarist and vocalist. Their fans couldn’t be more excited and ready to support the new endeavour, with Lizzie saying they are “overwhelmed” by all the support on Instagram. In the past year the artist and their group have shot to stardom as a result of the band’s debut album ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’ accumulating a mass following of people who feel seen and accepted by The Last Dinner Parties astounding lyricism.
Similarly, ‘Lighthouse’ is an intense ballad which consists of powerfully meaningful lyrics, highlighted beautifully by Mayland’s voice. The single, which is soon to be accompanied by the currently unnamed other tracks on Lizzie’s upcoming EP, ‘The Slow Fire of Sleep’, is truly ethereal. With a sound reminiscent of artists such as Florence and the machine, Lana Del Rey and The Wasia Project, Lizzie truly is one to keep on the radar for all those that enjoy a confessional acoustic folk genre blend. The inspiration for Lizzie’s debut solo single has come from the tough moments that have come with the brilliant success of The Last Dinner Party, with music being a great emotional outlet for the talented young singer. In an interview with DORK magazine earlier this month Lizzie confessed they are still “the same quiet, sometimes melancholic person.” which explains the difference in sound from The Last Dinner Party’s exciting pop-rock musical ventures.
We’re so excited to discover what else Mayland has waiting in the wings for us and to support them in their solo career journey.
